Los Osos has a once-in-a-multigenerational opportunity to Support Sunnyside Park — today and for generations to come.

Los Osos has only one small community park. This leaves children with limited safe places to play, community groups struggling to find space for youth sports, and everyone with too few options for active recreation.

An opportunity exists to meet our community needs and preserve green space, right in the heart of town! The former Sunnyside School site is being sold by the San Luis Coastal Unified School District (SLCUSD), which recently declared it surplus. This 12acre property is special because it is located adjacent to Los Osos Library, South Bay Community Center, Los Osos Community Park and historic Red Barn.

Support Sunnyside Park Citizen’s Coalition is working to save Sunnyside from private commercial development, save the Central Coast Waldorf School from being displaced and expand park & community resource space in Los Osos. Turning the Sunnyside property into a park and community resource will significantly boost active recreational opportunities, promote health and well-being, and enhance community connections, serving the needs of Los Osos today and for generations to come.

The cost to acquire, operate, and maintain Sunnyside Park is $185 per year per parcel, or about $15 monthly. That amount is needed for fifteen years until the purchase price is paid. Then the monthly cost reduces to about $8 for ongoing operation and maintenance. You can Support Sunnyside Park by signing our petition.
